So I picked up a S&W 442 with a magna-ported barrel.
Anyone else have one? What do you think of it? |

I had my S&W 640 Magnaported, and really like it.
The porting takes the wallop out of it, even with decently hot .357 loads. .38 Special rounds are a piece of cake. I'm going to have my .44 Bulldog ported as well. So people claim that you should not have a defensive handgun ported - some nonsense about the side blast hurting you if you shoot it at super close ranges, or that it will affect your night vision (as if the fireball from a 2 inch .357 Mag at night won't do that all by itself).
