Are older Charter Arms revolvers any good?
I may be getting a Pathfinder in 22lr. I had a Pug back in the 80's and that POS shot loose real quick. |

Some are and some aren't.
I had one from the early 80's that was great, worked well, and had no problems. Bought another one in the late 90's that was not so good, but then got one 2 years ago that was recently made and well built. If I can inspect it in person, I don't have a problem buying Charter Arms, but if it's sight unseen, I would save up and get a Smith and Wesson instead. |

I've got a old Charter Arms Bulldog 3" blue that is GTG. Last year my son got my DIL a Charter Arms Pink Lady. We had no trouble with it thru 100rds last summer when I was home on leave. Haven't heard her having any trouble with it. Now but of those are made by Charter Arms, the Charco and Charter 2000 are known to have problems. Research the gun before you buy.

| Of the 10 or so revolvers I have ever owned (Taurus, Ruger SP101, S&W, Colt, etc) the only one that did not function right every single time was a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog. I sent it in for work and it came back with the same issue- cylinder would lock up sometimes. Needles to say I traded it in (with full disclosure of the malfunctions). That is my only experience with one and my last. I have no use for a wheel gun that you can't count on. |
