| Occasionally when shooting double action, the cylinder rotates but the hammer does not function. I can pull the trigger again and duplicate the problem a couple of times when this does happen, but then it goes back to normal. I have to sit at my desk and pull the trigger many many times with snap caps to duplicate the problem. Is this an easy fix? Machinisttx? |
| It's possible that you are not letting the trigger go completely forward in DA every time, or on the same note, that the trigger return spring is weak or has been cut, or that the DA sear may be gunked up and a bit sticky (if your M65 is an older model...especially a Police trade-in) which can create the same situation. It could be a mechanical issue but Machinisttx can address that if he likes. I'm betting on a cut down return spring if this is an older gun. |

Replace the trigger return spring as suggested. When you have it broken down, clean the interior of the gun thoroughly and relube before you reassemble. +1 on the thorough cleaning. I can't tell you how many "out of time" old S&W revolvers I've bought in my day that worked like a charm once I gave them a complete and thorough cleaning... |
