I can get just one.  I want a BUG/DEEP CONCEALMENT to keep my 1911 company.  I already have .38 ammo on hand that I bought for my wife and her S&W 637.  I would love another M&P revolver but don't have the coin.  Any feedback would be great on either of these.  I had a P3AT but was not that happy with it.

ETA XS Sight Systems is making a big dot front sight for the LCR whereas the LCP has crude sights.

I like and own the LCP. The LCR seemed too big for a pocket gun to me. I'm happy with mine.

I have the LCR, and I am extremely well pleased with it.  I have only a little experience with the LCP.

Since you did not care for your P3AT, I suspect you would prefer the LCR.

It makes a great BUG, but only a good deep concealment gun, as it is a little bulkier than lots of the little autos on the market.

It does ride well in the front pocket of my jeans.

I love the LCP. I had a S&W 642, but it was too large for me. The LCP fits nicely in a wallet holster.

they do fit nice.

i look at it as i already have 38 ammo but i can get 380 ammo with the price difference on the lcp and i can get a holster for it too.

And how well does either shoot? I mean with recoil and such....

Both shoot well but neither make good range guns.  The LCP has a snappy recoil but not real harsh.  I just added 13lb springs to mine which is supposed to reduce perceived recoil and not send my brass flying 50' away but I haven't shot it since adding the spring.  The LCR is actually pretty nice to shoot and very accurate.  The first trip to the range it started to wear my hand out, but it's also my only revolver.  Now I'm used to it and don't mind it at all.

The LCP is much better for pocket carry, IMO, but the LCR isn't bad if you're wearing baggy pants.  Currently my wife carries the LCR in her purse and I use the LCP on the rare occasions that I'm not carrying my Glock 26.

I went LCP.  I found a holster and a good amount of ammo for it today so I can say it was a good deal.

I recently went to Gander Mountain and fondled an LCR. It fit nicely in my jeans front pocket. I was impressed.

I recently traded my LCP in on an LCR and it was one of the better moves I have made (gun wise) recently.

I have no "Trader's Remorse".

LCR.  a little bigger than the LCP, but worth it.  a BUG needs reliability 1st and foremost...tiny mouse-sized auto's don't necessarily have a rep for being bomb-proof.

you are right about the sights...  can't wait to get the Big Dot on my LCR...

FWIW, I have no trouble concealing the LCR, no matter what I'm wearing.

PS - just try the trigger on an LCR...if that don't sell ya, nothing will.

I carry a J-frame 637 90% of the time. I bought a LCP for the times I need something a bit easier to conceal. I am more comfortable with the J-frame as far as stopping power goes, although I have not had to shoot bad guys with either to really know for sure.......

you can never have too many guns as they are all different for different needs

I can only comment on the LCP. Ammo makes a big difference on how it shoots. Using standard FMJ hardball it is not very pleasant. Shot about a half a box and I had enough. Finally found some Federal Hydra-shoks and what a difference. Much less perceived recoil, reliable feeding (in my LCP anyway), and likely a more effective self-defense round. As someone else commented, it's not a range gun but the Hydra-shoks made it fun to shoot.

Not a range gun I was putting 5 inch groups at 13 yrds.
when people next to me could not get a tight group at 7yrds with a 45acp.
All I have to say with the LCP is shoot it alot and you will get the hang of the trigger pull.
Also add a grip extension and that reduces the snap of the pistol.   My 2 cents

Go with a LCP

I used to carry a SW 442, the LCP draws from the pocket far faster and far more surely than the 442.  The 442 isn't even close.  An LCR probably would draw about as fast as a 442.

That said, I want an LCR, not to replace the LCP, just to shoot and probably carry once in a while.

Edit to add:  the LCP is far easier to hit with at distance than the 442.  In very fast point shooting, up close, they are about the same

I usually carry a High Standard .22mag derringer for a backup, which is small but fatter in the grip area than the LCP, and I believe that a careful observer can probably tell what I'm carrying because it makes my hip pocket bulge open just a little. Not the same with the LCP that I recently purchased for my wife. Well you see she wasn't carrying it so I had to try it out you know. Its also very light weight, and I hardly notice its there. As for accuracy, I'm not impressed, but it does the job at close range, with 7 rds.

i was hitting k5 all day from 15 yds so it shouldn't be too inaccurate

Just shot mine today for the first time and I concur that this little pistol is a hit! I would say that I can see myself owning both but I had to have an LCP. I broke down and bought the CTC grips Thursday evening. I got out with it this morning and aside from the flynching, I found the pistol to be very accurate when I did my part. I didn't shoot further than 10 yards and accuracy was acceptable for my first outing. I was killing in the 5-7 yard range with several shots touching each other. The first one was straight through the center of the bullseye and let me tell you, I've been pleased with my accuracy in the past but that was a surprise. Very accurate little pistol. I did off hand and finished with one handed within 5 yards and I'm confident with this little pistol's performance. I put about 45 rounds through it today and I'll easily put another 150-200 through it before I call it good but I'm ready to call it good to go. No failures to feed or eject. I ran PMC bronze and Hornady TAP through it with no problems. I feel like I made a good choice despite the .380 ammo market. Now on to holsters...

I really really like my LCP.

My very first shot with that gun was at 15 yards, and it was DEAD center. A more perfect bullseye was never fired. Of course it was probably dumb luck, but I fell in love with that thing. I enjoy dropping it in a Nemesis pocket holster, and putting it my right pocket. I carry it when no other gun could be hidden. Some gun is better than no gun right?

I love my LCP. No problems at all - you just have to remember to keep your wrist firmly set while firing it. I get nice, tight groupings at 25ft. It's more concealable than my S&W 442 (which is roughly the same size as an LCR).
