I fondled the SR9 recently and was very impressed save the trigger. It had to be 10 lbs at least. That's a shame considering the glock trigger shoe and the thumb safety as part of the safety system. I wasn't able to break the pistol down and look at the internals to see of there were areas of engagement that could be polished. Has anyone bought an SR9 and improved the trigger pull by polishing the internals or are there any 'smiths out there that can improve it? |

Maynard,
I was going to ask the same thing, but with a slight twist.... I was in a local gun shop & the FNG behind the counter claimed to be their new smith. I asked him about a trigger job on my SR9 & he said it would be no problem. $60 -$70 depending on... ???? I can't remember what he said. He seemed a little too cocky/arrogant for me to trust with my new toy. I mean if he screws it up, will it void any warranty with Ruger? My primary question is... Is it possible for even a qualified gun smith to improve the trigger pull? I know nothing about how those triggers work, so I need input... Thanks Maynard John |

Thanks Maynard John I've done a lot of reading on the SR9 here recently and believe that the pull weight can be improved with some polishing. To what degree, I'm not sure. The take up and over travel seemed acceptable so that shouldn't be an issue but I only dry fired it 10 or so times. Each time though my thoughts were with how heavy the trigger break was. I've also read that Ghost, the same company that makes Glock triggers replacement parts, might be offering SR9 trigger parts which would be great news indeed. ETA: I can't say for sure if a trigger job will void the warranty but will vouch overall for Ruger's customer service, I don't think it would be an issue myself but can't say 100% for certain on that. |
