Has anyone else had a problem with the finger rest LCP mags releasing under recoil?  I checked my hand position and even tried one handed.  One-handed, my hand is no where near the release.  Still happens.  Doesn't seem to happen with the flat-bottom mags?  Anyone else having this issue?

I've seen several reports of it happening when a finger rest mag is used. Its allegedly more likely to occur if you have the original plastic mag catch. Ruger has a metal mag catch now.

I have about 300 rounds thru my LCP all with extended floor plate mags I have not had the problem but could see where it could happen they seem to be cheaply made

Can't say I have had that problem with mine. Oh it could be because I am still waiting on my finger rest base plate to be sent to me after having the retrofit done on my LCP. But I do have a nice hat with my LCP.

Tried it with both types of mags and still doing it, about 2-3 times per mag.  During the testing phase, had a cartridge detonation!  Blew the extractor off.  The case let go about midway between the mouth and the extractor groove in a u-shaped split.  Never seen anything like it.  Local gun-store owner said he thought it looked like it fired out of battery, but admits he isn't a gunsmith.  It's a real shame because it was feeding anything I fed it, regardless of bullet shape or locked/unlocked wrist.

I have the metal mag catch and just recieved my finger rest base plates. third round fired the recoil stripped the mag out overcomming the mag catch tension.

Waiting on pins/needles.  Email was useless but a phone message prompted a callback.  Emailed me a UPS label and we were off to the races....er, Prescott?  Should be taking care of both issues as we speak.

After reading this I went out and shot 150 rounds using the finger rest mags through my recently recall updated LCP.  No problems.  I originally had the plastic mag catch, but Ruger put the metal one in mine during the recall.  There is some type of issues regarding the new follower design hanging up on the mag catch, you can find more info than you'll ever need on this on the Elsie Pea forum.  The free mag that Ruger sent me is the new follower design, so I chucked it in a drawer and I'll mess with it later.

Finally got my LCP back, not a heinous turn around.  Repair sheet looks like they replaced almost every part but the frame.  No comment on the cause of the cartridge issue, guess I'll never have a definitive answer.

As to the magazine issue it appears to be fixed, I ran 4 full mags through it and the mag stayed in place throughout.  I'll reserve final judgement until I have some more rounds through it, but that has more to do with .380 ammo availability.    As a side note, the mag seems to fit a bit more loosely when locked in place now, perhaps the pressure against the catch was too much.

Known problem. Yes, mine does it. Both my mags now have flate base plates.
