Anyone know of any internet gun dealers who have the LCP in stock at a reasonable price? My FFL was going to order a Ruger LCP through J&G Sales but they're backordered with an unknown timeframe of when they'll have new pistols.

A couple of local gun dealers have the LCP for $330 and $339 - but I'm trying to avoid getting screwed over on price. Worse case - I'll just wait until they become more common and prices drop.

If you're ok with waiting, you're probably just gonna have to do that.

I'm impatient so I paid MSRP and got one as soon as it came into my local shop.

My FFL just ordered one from Davidson's Gallery of Guns which is close geographically to Ruger Firearms ( may or may not make a difference). They currently have the guns listed as "allocated" and only show the MSRP price on their website.

Not sure what price he's paying but they're going to call him when the gun is in. I get guns from him close to cost - so it shouldn't be too bad of a price. Plus - I'd rather support the smaller FFL's when possible.

If the LCP ends up being everything I hope it is - I'll eventually get one for my wife as well. She currently has a Kel-Tec P32.

What is the difference between this and the Kel-tec?

davidson is actually in one of Rugers old buildings even. My bet is that davidson gets rugers before anyone else does..

look um both over, you can make that decision very easily after you see um together. Oh and the Rugers work fgreat out of the box.  I have 700 flawless rounds through my lcp, Owned 3 kt's,  none of them ever worked--their gone to.

Same answer. I know that some people swear by KT's but they are a hit and miss proposition. I have owned two of them and one worked flawlessly. My other one and two that friends own don't work so that is one out of four working out of the box that I am familiar with.

KT guarantees their pistols but you have to pay shipping to get it to them. If you ship it legally, it is about $25-$30 overnight although I know some people ship them as "machine parts".

From reading this and other forums, if the LCP has a problem, Ruger will send you a prepaid UPS label to send it back to the factory at no charge. That alone puts them up over KT.

I have about 300 rounds through my LCP so far with different kinds of ammo with no malfunctions. I am sure that there will be a few problems while the LCP's get a good test now that they are on the public market. Look at how many modifications Glock has made over the years and I think they make pretty good pistols. They still needed to be tweaked over time. As long as Ruger has a large majority of their pistols working out of the box and if they will guarantee the LCP at no cost to the owner, they will blow KT away.

As far as function, I think my LCP shoots smoother than my KT P3AT and seems to have a little less snappy recoil but maybe that is my imagination or wishful thinking.

As far as availability, the LCP is a very good example of the free enterprise supply and demand.

They have had a few locally in my area but they stay on the shelf for a few minutes. One local dealer this week had one for four hours and he said that was by far the longest that he has had one. You just have to be there when one or more comes in.

no doubt the lcp will have some teething issues. but hopefully nothing like the kt have had and still seem to have yet.  Ruger will take care of um but every buyer wants good to go out of the box. and it seems most lcp are in that category. Ruger already stepped up to the plate and machined that area out of the frame that was getting banged. They will get the nit picky things straightened out much faster than kt ever did, for they are going to have less isuees to deal with to.

IMO not a dummy at all. If u wanted it, u buy it and don't worry about what you or someone else paid for theirs.  Unless u intend to sell it, the price to have it now is worth it. If you wait for the price to come down or for them to get to be very available, it won't be this year.

There's plenty for sale on gunbroker if you're willing to pay a premium.  I'm getting tired of waiting and might pay the premium myself.

now have 850 flawless rounds through my lcp, shoots great, see no wear anywhere,  good barrel, I polished the feed ramp and barrel chamber at 700 rounds, just for something to do.  shoots PMC ammo great and also Federal AE, which I have read some have had some feed issues with.  IMO and this is just my opinion, I do think Ruger has week magazine springs.  I have read numerous comments on this and other posts where the last round on some brands hangs up.  Now if it feed the first 5 rounds ok and hangs up on the last round, to me that is an indication of a weak magazine spring or a possable combination of a weak magazine spring and a weak recoil spring set-up.  I can tell you this much. the recoil springs on my once onwed kt 380 were alot harder to insert in the slide that the darn near drop in recoil spring set up of the lcp. IMO they could be stronger yet.  just my opinion FWIW.
