I was told they come with an extra magazine, is that true. My friend has put 1000 flawless out of the box rounds through his lcp. He finally clenaed it because he felt it was not going to malfunction. No comparison between the lcp and kt 380, even though both look the same THE RUGER WORKS. They will sell like hotcakes, and Ruger didn't waste any time getting them to market either. My two sholud be here soon. Can't wait. My friend tells me that they are finished alot better than the kt's to, inside and out, maybe thatis why they work better. they certainly are a more attracitve gun than the kt. I had 3 of the kt's all gone now, just witingon this Ruger and then my Kahr P380. Good luck with your lcp, it is a dandy and i am envious.... |
|
I'm going to try and get to the range this weekend and pop some rounds through it. It is a real quality pistol and puts the keltec to shame in quality. Only came with 1 magazine. None for sale on the net are being offered with 2 mags . keltec .380 mags dont fit either . |
big difference in kt quality standards and Ruger quality standards, as u well can see. Sure hope my two lcp get in soon, good luck with ur little toy, It will serve u well. Give us ur honest report when you get back from the range with it. It its good to go, we want to know, if it not good to go, we still need to know.. |
I just rewrote my buddy who bought a lcp and he stated "again" his came with two magazines???? Do you think possably ur dealer might have pulled the extra magazines for future sales. |
| I called Ruger to find out when the gun would release and how many magazines it will come with and they said it would be in stores by the end of March and it comes with 2 magazines. A local store got 5 of the guns, and they all came with just 1 magazine. There are no extra magazines available for the stores to purchase right now, so that could be why the early release guns only came with 1 magazine. |
|
My bet the store took the spare magazines out and has sold them as accessories. Ruger would not offer them with 2 magazines and not ship with two, UNLESS there was some kind of certificate with the gun stating you were one magazine short and to mail the certificate in and Ruger would send you the extra maagzine when they have stock. I think a dealer is ripping someone off, and not Ruger. BIG RED FLAG for me anyhow. |
polymer release, seems some people thing that is crap. I had 3 kel tec and shot thousands of rounds through them and NEVER ever worn out a magazine release EVER. treat them right and they will last. I think the Ruger SR9 has a polymer mag release also. There not race guns, no need to slam magazines home either. Also metal on metal releases will produce issues also if you slam them home all the time. I certainly never had an issue with any releases on the kel tec and there has to be over a 100,000 of them out there. Most of the issues with the Kel Tec with mag popping out was that the plastic flashing on the bottom of the grips was not trimmed enough and therefore the magazine was not really getting inserted properly. My lcp source tells me the Rugers are just finsihed so much better than he doesn't forwee any magazine issues with the lcp. |
| Yes indeed it looks alot like the kt, only this RUGER goes bang every time. looks awfully small laying next to the glock do-wow. From allthe reports so far the Ruger's fit and finish is superb and no one is reporting any issues at all. My friend now has 1300 flawless rounds through his lcp.. Now I would consider that a reliable ccw.. |
|
Mine came with 1 mag. Ruger's website and marketing circular state 1 mag per gun as well. Extra mags are up on Ruger's website now so hopefully they will be available through retailers soon. http://ruger.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&categoryId=13666&productId=47609&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=13660&lastCatId=13660 |
I would think it was internet BS too except that my P3AT absolutely will not keep a magazine in. I don't ever slam the magazine home. I'm actually pretty gentle with it. It is less than a year old and has less than 500 rounds through it. I've got three different magazines from two different sources and they all do it. I have also tried filing a little from the magazine. I would get rid of my P3AT in a second if this gun took care of the magazine issue (polymer release or not). |
You can bet the Ruger lcp willnot havbe this magazine problem. That is just simkply piss poor quality , no if's ands or butts about it. I will be totally suprised if the Ruger acts that way.. |
There's a universal ClipDraw. Go to their web site check it out. |
I have one that I picked a couple years ago that I never used since I was less than comfortable using sticky tape to hold a CCW in it's concealed location... |
|
Currently I own a Keltec P32. It is a very good deep concealment carry piece. I've had the gun for several years and I've never experienced an issue with it. The new Ruger looks very nice, but I just can't get over the fact that it looks like a rebadged Keltec. |
not sure about the kt clip but my friend says his Ruger will not fit snug in his KD made kel-tec holster. It just falls right out. He feels it is due to the ergonomic design of the ruger grip. |
| today I talked to the owner and good friend of mine who owns a lcp and has been keeping me informed as to is progress. he owns a shooting range, so it gets fired as much as he wants to allow it. As of today it has 2600 flawelss, not one hic-cup rounds through it, with cleaning a the frist 1000 rounds and not since, still original recoil springs. His statement. "damn thing goes bang every time" UPDATE; March 29, the shooter now is up to 3000 rounds, no breakage of any part. update aPRIL 20, NOWUP TO 4000 ROUNDS, NOT ONE BREAKAGE.... |

Sorry no range report yet on mine. Weather was lousy last weekend so couldn't get out. I will try to get out soon and test it out and let you all know if it works or not FYI Ruger has spare magazines on their website. I ordered 4 and got them already . $25 a magazine. Still need some extensions for them and they will be good to go. |
Please do keep us up to date on ur lcp. so far every report has been excellent, hope yours willbe the same.. |
glocks have polymer mag releases... don't see any problem with them wearing. |
Glock magazines also have a polymer body, unlike the LCP mags. In Glock circles, the combination of (aftermarket) metal mag catch + polymer mags or polymer mag catch + (aftermarket) metal mags has long been held as problematic. Not to say there will be a problem with the LCP, but FWIW. |
|
Okay finally got out to shoot the LCP. Put about 75 rounds through it of UMC .380 fmj. I only shot it at 7 yards and it is fairly accurate. If you limp wrist it it will jam up on you. Needs a pinky extension due to its small size. Overall a nicely made pistol which would serve someone nicely as a bug. I like the concept but prefer my other ccw pistols. So going to put it on the EE here. |

I have one on a snubby that has been on for almost 2 years, worn a lot in the heat of summer and ridding a motorcycle and is still solid. Of course it is a small light gun, no experience on heavier ones. |
if it was a rebadged kt, it would work like a kt and have all the customarily kt issues going along with it. THEY DON'T. ruger did have one kt issue that should have been caught in house but evidently did not and that is the banging and peening on the right side of the frame, where the shell casing hits upon ejection. It in all honesty does not hurt anything but looks like crap though. It would raise a concern though. Ruger has already adddressed it and changed their CNC maching to eliminate that area completly, something that kt has continued to ship out the door for over 5 years. their comment if asked about it is " Just file it down andit willgo away" |
