Was there any talk of bad springs in LCP mags?

I bought 2 new in package Ruger branded LCP mags from ebay recently.
They were the Made in Italy version.
When I removed the flush fit base plate to install the finger rest baseplate on one of them, the spring came out in pieces.
Like it was over hardened in manufacturing.

Never loaded, never inserted in the gun. Absolutely new in box, and I am fairly certain they are not counterfeit.
I sent the seller a note. We'll see what happens.

The other one seems fine. I loaded and unloaded it a few times, and installed the finger rest base plate on it, and compressed the spring with my fingers to test it without issue.

Has this ever happened to you, or have you heard anything about bad mag springs in the LCP?

If you call Ruger they would probably send you a new magazine spring. They are noted for, and have a great Customer Service department....<><....:)

I have been looking for magguts for an LCP for a year and can't find them anywhere.  It looks like they stopped making them to concentrate on Glock 42 magguts.  Do you know any place that has them available?
