I must be crazy. But I want JUST ONE MORE Ruger. I like them. My wife is gonna bite my head off. But I digress.
So if it were up to you what to choose? It will be a hunter, woods gun. Something to plink with. And just because I want one. The last part being the most important. Ruger Black Hawk in 45, or Ruger Red Hawk in 45. I already read up on the 44 Mag. The cross section verses penetration thing. I just like the 45 I guess. Action is not so important to me. But being able to shoot the hotter loads from say Buffalo bore is. And of course lots of regular loads, So which is more accurate? Which is stronger. I wish they made the 45 in Super Black Hawk. But Ruger does not. I am not so sure it would make a difference in 45 anyway. Alot of folks think the Black Hawk is strong enough. Some say the Red Hawk is stronger. Others will tell me that single action is more accurate. Or I will like the Bisely Black Hawk and the way it handles recoil better. I have a laundry list of things I have read or heard. But of course never actually had the good fortune of experiancing. I plan on renting both at a range to try. But it may be harder to find them in 45 as the 44 Magnum seems to be most prevalent. Anyway any thoughts to add would be great. I hope to gleen as much info as I can before the purchase. Money is thight. I want my best bang for the buck. |
| I just ordered a Bisley Blackhawk in 45 7.5" about an hour ago. I intend to use Underwood Ammo ammo in it. |

There is no question the RH, SRH are stronger guns than the SBH, BH guns cyl size is the weak link in both. The 45 colt chambered in the BH can be loaded to 35 K chamber pressures which will get you just over 1350 fps with a 335 cast. It is plenty strong for anything Buffalo Bore, Garret, etc make available to the public. I don't care for D/A Revolvers. There is a run of Stainless 5.5" Bisleys chambered for the 45 Colt going on now, these are one of the better all around handguns available take a look at them. I can post a pic of one if you like. |
