| Went to the range today. After fireing several 38 loads with no issues i shot 5 shots of the hornady critical defense 357. After fireing the caseing would not come out. Had to bring it home to get the caseings out. Whats the problem here? |

Check chambers for rough spot or larger inside than chamber mouth.
Check cartridges for signs of rough surface inside as well. Look for gouges in the brass. Cartridges should expand during fire then contract again and drop from the ejector. Steel cartridges may not contract as much as brass ones if there is someone making steel .357. A proper sized barrel mop with jeweler’s rouge can be placed on a electric drill or driver and used to polish the chambers so they are glossy smooth. I was trained to release cylinder with firing hand and grasp and hold gun with fingers through frame and crane and cylinder with the off hand holding it open barrel pointed straight up. Slam the ejector with the palm and continue to cartridges/speed loaders for loading. This was in case hot loads stuck in the cylinder after firing. |
| Firing .38spl in a .357mag chamber can sometimes leave a bit of fouling just past the case mouth that can make the longer case of the .357mag sit tight in in the chamber. I have noticed this while trying to load .357mag after shooting a box or two of 38spl. A quick cleaning with a brush and solvent should remedy the issue. |
