This is a repost from the General Handgun Discussions, I didn't get many replys there and thought I might get more here. I apologize in advance for the repost and the length, but I really want the LC9 to work out.
I took my LC9 to the range for the first time today. I shot decent with it at 25 yards, my groups were definitely larger when compared to my G19, but very acceptable given the distance. The long trigger pull and reset didn't bother me like it does some people, I'm used to my S&W340PD so it wasn't much longer than that. THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I took my LC9 to the range for the first time today. The long trigger pull and reset didn't bother me like it does some people, I'm used to my S&W340PD so it wasn't much longer than that. I shot 257 rounds total. 200 rounds of WWB, 20 rounds of Federal Hydroshoks, 20 rounds of Speer Golddots and 17 rounds of FMJ reloads. I had 12 FTEs and had some with each ammo type except the reloads. 11 of the FTEs happened when I was shooting one handed trying to see how the gun handled a weaker grip with one hand. I was getting 1 FTE per mag and could almost cause an FTE at will. The one other FTE happened shooting normal two handed. My question is, are these FTEs just part of the break in and eventually stop happening or is this gun susceptible to failures shooting one handed or limp wristing? I am going to give it a good cleaning and put a couple hundred more rounds through it to see if it stops having FTEs. I really like the size and rounds this thing holds, so I want to give it every chance to make it to my CCW piece, but it has to be 100% reliable to do that. Anyone else have a similar experiences? |

I have run about 100 rounds of Blazer Brass fmj and had 0 FTEs and 0 FTFs.
Going to try some HPs soon and will see if they make a difference. The sights are pretty good and it is way easier to handle than the LCP in .380 despite the fact that it is a 9mm. The trigger pull is longer than a hard winter and it takes a bit to get used to. |

I've got about the same amount of rounds through mine now. Bit to cold to do more lately.
Never had a FTE that I can recall. I do run mine with some lube on it and maybe that helps. Are you aware of the issue with (possible) primer shavings in the firing pin channel? Do some searching here if not. Be sure when you clean that you extend the FP and see if any shavings push out. I like my LC9 a lot. Just need to get more through it. |

I have not cleaned it since this trip, but will check for that when I take it apart. I guess other good news is that it did not have any failure to feeds with two kinds of JHPs. |

I bought one about 6 months ago.
Right out of the box it worked fine. Within 300rds it starting failing to fire. When it would go off it would feed and eject fine. Eventually gave up and sent it back to Ruger. They fixed it right because I've fired 800+ rds out of it since getting it back and it runs 100% now. |

I finally got some time to clean it tonight.
There was some o what looked like gold shavings in the firing pin hole and some in the slide. I gave it a good cleaning to get those out. The one interesting thing I found was behind the ejector. There is a little space behind the ejector that I found some gold shavings and some hard black crud. I cleaned all that out and the little space behind the ejector is now clean. Hopefully that crud and shavings were causing the FTEs. I will find out this weekend. |

350+ rounds out of mine, mix crappy russian, brass case ball and mixed hollowpoints from the "misc" ammo can. No malfunctions.
I'm one of those O/C guys who meticulously cleans/lubes after each range trip. It now rides in the Ruger Mitch Rosen belt holster, with a spare mag also on the belt. I like it much better than the J-frames I carried for so long. |

Update: I put another 200 rounds of WWB through it this weekend.
I had 5 FTEs and 1 FTF. The FTEs were all shooting with two hands this time so it wasn't due to limp wristing. The FTE casings looked like the extractor slipped off the rim. There was an extractor scrape on the rim where I could see it had a grip on the shell and slipped. What is my next move with this thing? I've got a little over 500 rounds through it and still getting FTEs and now 1 FTF. Send it back to ruger? |

but I really want the LC9 to work out.
