Been looking into a 10mm sidearm, and the Kimber is one of the options I have for new purchase in CA (damned "approved list").
Wondering if anyone had one, and also wondering if it's beefed up in certain places like the Colt Delta Elite is relative to the .45 variants... Thanks in advance. |
| I have one. I found it to be an excellent handgun if you like cannons. I fire full power 10mm rounds, and even though the slide and frame are both SS, the weapon is still too light for my taste. The recoil on full power 10mm is sharp and violent; a little additional weight would be helpful. I found that the factory installed 18.5 lb recoil spring isn't sufficient. I have purchased 22, 24, and 26 lb springs. I am still playing with the springs in order to determine which works best. The bottom line is that I like the 10mm for those rare occasions when magnum power is desired and Kimber did a pretty decent job providing a handgun for that beast of a cartridge. It could be improved as could almost handgun. |

Thanks for the replies, guys...
I found a deal on Calguns.net. A beater condition blued Colt Delta Elite. some pitting in the slide, but the internals were in great shape. $600 and she was all mine It's now my WECSOG project gun. I've swapped out the nylon arched MSH for a Colt flat one in blue, replaced the grip bushings with slimline ones, and the next step is a new trigger and thumb safety. |
