Another good forum for Kimber owners. http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=27

Always remove the Mag. rack the slide back to make sure it has no live round.  You can lock the slide back with the slide lock lever.

I would buy the seven rd. Wilson Combat Mags Run your Kimber wet use lots of quality Lub at range during the breakin. I highly recomend using quality 230gr FMJ Ammo. at range. You should have few if any problems during the breakin don't worry about FTFs till after around 500rds fired.

use good quality mags, fmj ammo for break in, and I use light grease on the rails and barrel. and shoot it lots.

That's the one thing I never liked about Kimber...and I have owned and currently own plenty.  Need that special tool to break it down.  Got to be an easier way....

Here is a good video on an Ultr Carry II break down.  Youtube is my friend :)

Once you do the take down a few times it's not such a BIG problem, with or without the wire tool.

I use the 8 rd. wilson's in my CDP PRO, I have both the 47d and the ETM's. It eats anything I load them with, but that gun is a stud, I have owned it for close to 9 years and have never I repeat NEVER had a stoppage or failure with it. Keep yours clean and lubed (but not dripping, no need to over do it) and you will be fine. Some guns may need some extracter tuning, but most will run right out of the box. I also have a CDP ULTRA (did I mention how great I think the CDP line is) It has considerably less rounds fired then the pro, but the same never a failure. I use Tripp mags in it and will never buy any other type of mag again for 1911's Tripp is the best hands down. My only Kimber to cause me any problems is my 5" tactical 2. I bought the wilson ETM's for it but it would double feed the second to last round in the mag every 4th or 5th mag, but was fine with the stock kimber 7 rd mag. Bought 8rd Tripp mags and no more problems

This morning I was shooting next to a gentleman who asked me what kind of .45 is that, I said Kimber 4" CDP, he said; darn thats a striaght shooting son of a gun. He was shooting a single action Colt army type revolver (pretty darn well, I should add). I simply said yes it is.

I use FP-10 lube and Kimber recommends that for the 1911s. I also bought some wilson combat mags.
