I just picked up a Kimber Ultra Carry II and have about 500 rounds through it now. I love this gun, but, I’ve had a few FTF problems and today I had a FTE problem. The FTF is weird in that the slide just locks back and the round is still in the magazine ready to be loaded. Pulling back on the slide makes the round chamber and it’s GTG again. I don’t think I’m limp wristing but it could be user error. Has anyone else had this problem with the UC2 or any of the other Kimbers? Should I wait it out (Kimber says 500 rounds to break in) or is there an issue here? Any advice is appreciated.

Its weird, this happened to me with my Pro Carry II but only when i loaded 5 rounds. After 4 rounds the slide would lock open and the 5th would just sit on top of the mag. Finally figured out that it was the mag. I thought my issue was with the mag also. I picked up a Wilson Combat mag and still had the same problem. I'm shooting it again today so I'll report back with what happens. I cleaned the weapon thoroughly last night. I'm pretty compulsive about keeping my firearms in good working order so I don't think that's an issue. |

This is a known problem, had it with my Eclipse Ultra. You need a modified slide stop, call Kimber on Monday and ask them to send one to you. As soon as I installed the new one, it worked like a charm. Called Kimber today and they are sending the mod slide stop. I hope this fixes the problem. I love my Ultra Carry. Any recomendations for replacement magazines? |
