I am in the market for a new Kimber and I am trying to figure out what the difference was between the Pro Carry HD II and the Pro Carry II.  Can someone enlighten me please.  Also, pros/cons between the 2.

Thanks!

The hd has a stainless frame and the other has an aluminum frame to the best of my knowledge.

About 10 oz.

The HD is a steel frame gun.  Alloy is a lot more comfortable for a carry piece.

Arguably stainless steel is more durable than alloy frame (how much? no idea. Kimber says no meaningful wear after 20,000 rounds) but do not use split followers like Kimber or CMC mags in these guns.

I haven't made decision on which one to buy either. I'm looking at the ones you are looking at right now. I do know it is about 7 oz lighter (35 for Pro Carry II HD and 28 for Pro Carry II) I'm not sure how much it will contribute to felt recoil.

However if you are carrying it 24/7 and not mainly a range gun alloy frame definitely makes sense.

I got the aluminum frame and it is very nice! If you want to actually carry the gun on your person it is the one to choose.

Thanks for the info everyone.  Now the golden question...Pro Carry II or Pro CDP II?

I am trying to decide between the 2.  Your thoughts please.  It will be my primary CCW.

I found that at the end of the day, carrying an alloy frame was much better for my lower back.  That 8-10 oz does not seem like much on paper, but it seems to really make a difference at the end of the day.

(or maybe I'm just getting old)

I guess between the two it really depends on what you need in a carry gun.

Pro Carry...basic model, no front strap checkering, no night sights and aluminum frame.

Pro CDP...carry melt (rounded edges), frontstrap checkering, night sights, aluminum frame, but has AMBI.  I have no need for ambi, so YMMV.

Between the two I like the CDP, has nicer features that you will eventually want.

For me I went with the Pro TLE, although mine is the RL (if you don't need the light rail, save yourself the headache of looking for a holster...go with the one without the rail)...front strap checkering, night sights, all steel and no ambi.
