How many rounds do you have to shoot before a Kimber is deemed "broken in" and ready for carry use?

Mine was 100% reliable out of the box. At about 350 rds I could feel it getting smoother and the trigger was very good.  At that point I considered it to be "broken in".  Each person has their own idea of how many rounds it takes to be reliably broken in.  General opinion is 300 to 500 rds fired with out a failure. YMMV

A 45 may not expand but it will never be smaller than .45!!

Run the break-in rounds through it ... 4-500.  At that point, its your decision, "do you trust it with your life"?

I made sure mine shot atleast 350 rounds of my carry ammo without a hiccup before I could trust it to save my life if need be.  I had a few FTF's during break-in but after about 300 rds and then the 350 rds of JHP's, no problems whatsoever.  Mine is 100% reliable.

I broke mine in with 500 ball rds plus 200 duty rds (Speer Gold Dot 200 Gr) and just finished a 500 rd combat pistol class...Qualified with it and now carry it on/off duty.  I trust this one with my life and am really happy with it.  YMMV
