Got this in trade yesterday from another member.  I put about 100 rounds through it yesterday afternoon.  This is my first alloy frame and I really noticed the recoil difference with the one mag of +P I fired.  The ACT/Novak mags I got from CDNN functioned fine.

It had alot of holster wear on the frame from the original owner's kydex holster so I stripped down the frame and spayed on appliance enamel.  It's a little shiney but I'll eventually Duracoat it anyway.  I took some steelwool to the slide and cleaned off some of the holster wear marks.  The bottom of the grips were pretty dinged up so I put a couple of coats of polyurethane.  I was surprised to see a plastic mainspring housing.  I don't know if that is an original part or not.  David

Nice pistol. Congrats.

Beware of using the metal follower mags in the alloy frames as they have a tendency to peck on the alloy feed ramp. I switched to the plastic followers such as those from Wilson.

The plastic mainspring housing is original.

Plastic mainspring housing is definitely OEM.

Second the recommendation (tentatively) on avoiding split followers. (the ACT/Novak mags should be fine).

Any real determination of it's an issue with the series II guns? For example, my wifes series II ultra has a factory ramped barrel, whereas my series I is a traditional frame ramp.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'm guessing the orginal owner carried it a lot and shot it very little because the Kimber mag is all scuffed up on the bottom but there are no marks on the feed ramp.  I threw the mags I got in the Kimber box and tossed it in the attic.  I've got 2 Wilson mags on the way from Brownells.  David

Wilson's are a good choice but the ACT/Novak mags are safe to use in alloy guns. Two of my full size Kimber's don't like Wilson mags.
