Has any one had the hammer drop and the gun not fire? I have a Kimber BP 10 II and every so often (but getting more frequent) I pull the trigger and "click" nothing, I check the round and the primer has not been touched. I took out the firing pin and looked at it with a magnifing glass and it is kind of chipped and peened in the area that makes contact with the stop. I even put a piece of adhedsive backed rubber on the grip safety to ensure engagement, but I figure if I have enough movement to drop the hammer it should be enough. The gun is only 6 months old so I guess I'll sent it back (PITA). I'm shooting this gun in the IDPA Nationals and do not need problems, and in IDPA you cannot disable any safety devise, or else I would.

Yes,  had it happen.

Replace firing pin with a series 70, and forget about that stupid POS safety.

All your problems will be solved.

I've never had it happen, but if I did, I'd take it apart and remove the Series II parts.

I just talked to someone at the range last night that has that new high end tan Kimber with the laser and they said that they had it happen to them. Like I originally said that I would take it out, but would get DQed at the IDPA Nats without it,plus its still under warranty and Ill let them see what they can do. At least they will make it easier for me to get the rear site off.

Yeah, series 70 firing pin will fix it. But taking out the parts will let you take it apart like a normal pistol as a bonus.

O Rly.  I like that... because I bought mine used, and could therefore legitimately claim I didn't know it was like that if it ever came to blows.

I've seen the series 70 firing pin recommended as a "cure" for Series II FPS problems, but it seems like a Band-Aid fix to me. Either remove the offending FPS parts (which apparently isn't an option for the OP) or have it fixed properly.

You may want to try the vertical pencil test.
My Custom II was doing that except I was getting light primer strikes to no primer strikes. Turned out to be the grip safety needed a little attitude adjustment.

If it works fine, I don't see it as a band-aid fix at all - I'm not OVERLY concerned about liability, but I'd rather not be the defendant who removed safety parts from his gun in front of a jury.  The firing pin replacement is subtle enough that it would never be noticed, even with examination by the average police firearm and tool examiner.  And in the unlikely event it was noticed, it would be simple to plead ignorance about it.

The update is that the factory replaced the grip safety, I don't think they even took the firing pin stop out. I've put about 200 rounds with no prob. yet. I Shoot it again this weekend, so we will see.
