a regular kimber custom and a Kimber TLE.

what makes them more expensive? the oxide finish? better parts? if so which ones?

...... My custom II came with night sights. But I got it second hand thinking about it.

N/S were an option on the Custom II, but obviously added to the price.

Nope, sorry. When LAPD SWAT wanted a new 1911 and it was decided Kimber would provide it, the model chosen was a plain jane Custom model with 30lpi frontstrap checkering and night sights. The guns were then marked LAPD SWAT Custom. The TLE (Tactical Law Enforcement) is the consumer version.
