I may be picking up one of these next week. It would be my first 1911. Should I consider a different 1911, or specifically a different Kimber? I want it for a CCW pistol to replace my .40 USP. I am fairly certain the one at the shop here has an internal extractor. I will check again tomorrow. As to why I am replacing the HK; the Kimber just feels right in my hand. I am a long-time Glock/HK user. |

I just put my HK USP down and started carrying a Kimber in November or so myself. the CDP's are really beautiful guns, it was the first gun Kimber put out that I really thought was just plain good looking. The aluminum frame makes it pretty light, and between that and how thin it is, I think you will like it quite a bit. Truth is there are a ton of guns out there that are just as worthy of consideration as the Kimber. But there's nothing about the Kimber you should be weary of. If you like it, go ahead! |

Great choice! I have the Compact CDP II and it has been flawless from day one in August of '05. The melt treatment, the lighter weight, IE, and the ½ inch shorter grip height were all plus factors in my decision to purchase the Compact. Prices have gone up on the CDP's around here. Brand new, they are $1,029 in my area. I see them on GunBroker for about $100 less than my local shop price. |

shot one for the first time yesterday. Very light, easy pointing (easier than my 5"), and nary a hiccup... everything was gravy until I'd catch a hot empty right in the forehead, which happened once a magazine. I told the guy who owned it that if it was mine, it'd be taking a trip to Yonkers. |
