I've been breaking in a new Kimber Micro Raptor 380 and carrying it while out doing chores around the place. I though I would post a short review in case that helps anyone.
First, yes this pistol is price tag overall kill for a 380 pocket pistol no doubt, that said it does have a lot of nice machining detail work throughout the pistol, night sights , plus a higher end look and feel.
I cleaned the pistol, relubed everything and worked the slide to pre wear the parts before range time. First day out I fired 100rds of white box FMJ without a single failure of any kind.
Second, day out I fired another 100rds of white box FMJ, 50rds of critical defense HP and 20'rds of civil defense 50gr HP without any failures of any kind.I cleaned the Micro Raptor again afterward.
Yesterday, I fired another 100rds of white box and critical defense mixed without issue.
That said this Micro has proven itself super reliable so far I would have expected a jam or two in this breakin period normal.
Overall, I own several pocket 380's Kahrs,Body Guard,Mustang XSP and LCP I like them all for different reasons. The Raptor is was alittle nicer action wise out of the box, the slide is smooth and easier to pull back that the others, better sights than the others, prettier than the others LOL and it should be for the price!
The only complaint is the trigger is alittle heavy for my taste maybe it with smooth out with use
Accuracy wise it shoots very well and is super easy to shoot even out at 25 yards I'm pinging steel with ease.
Price ??? Yep it's high but if you don't care for the fancy stuff the standard Micro 380 is several hundred cheaper and most likely shoots the same
I'm going to carry the Micro with critical defense ammo because the pointed shape of the HP bullet has proven the most reliable feeding in all my 380 pocket guns so far from my testing.
In the end I like the Micro Raptor it's finished well, shoots well and works the same as my 1911's. That is a big plus for me since I'm use to 1911's after many years of shooting them. Price and trigger pull are the cons for me, I also don't claim it to be any better pocket gun than the CW380 and CT380 in the picture below, just fancier to look at and alittle more accurate at longer ranges
