Had some tournament-grade paintball gear that's been sitting around since I stopped playing in 2010 and finally got an offer than wasn't a lowball, trade for a Kimber Pro TLE II and a little cash on my part.  I just bought my first 1911 in January, a Springfield Range Officer so I know nothing about Kimbers.  Haven't shot it yet but I'm liking the way it looks and feels.  We'll see how much I like it after I take it to the range and will then decide whether I want to keep it or not.  Could be a new winter carry gun, who knows. Tore it apart, gave it a quick cleaning and put a light coat of Tetra lube on it.

So what do you seasoned Kimber folks do about the superficial barrel rust?

Anybody else have any similar issues with a small groove in this area?

Polish the rust off and keep it lubed.
The wear inside looks like it is from the Schwartz safety.

Is the wear abnormal or of any concern?

I emailed Kimber 5-6 days ago in regard to the worn safety finish asking what it would cost to refinish it or if they could recommend a product for me to do it myself and they responded the very next day saying they would just send me a new one for free.  Got it today.  Super fast resolution. I'm impressed.

Kimber sent you a new safety, with the expectation that you would just drop it in?    Did you fit it to your sear, or even perform the "click test" on it?

They sure did.  I'll look into this click test when I get back home later in the week.  I haven't fired it.

Seems to pass the click test.  Any other recommendations?

Only noise I hear is the hammer hitting the beavertail.
