I brought my mk1 .44 DE out to the range today and had some problems. I started off shooting slow with out any problems but I decided to fire off a few mags as fast as I could towards the end and started having failure to extracts. It seemed to happen on the 4th or 5th round, could my extractor be getting weak or could I just be limp wristing it when I fire it faster?

I say limp wristing it, did you try slowing down again to see what happens?

Ya I slowed down and it extracted fine after that. That doesn't make to much since through a mechanical standpoint though, if the extractor is locked onto the casing it should extract when the slide comes back.

But you gotta imagine that there needs to be resistance on the frame to work against the slide. If there was absolutely no resistance the pistol would spin in a circle in mid air and the slide probably wouldn't slide back much if at all so essentially that is what is happening on a much smaller level. The momentum of the pistol moving takes away some force from the slide not allowing it to cycle completely backward.

Well the failure to extracts I was having are where the extractor comes off the round and sometimes the slide starts to chamber another round with the expended round in the chamber.
