With the recent passing of my father, my brother and I inherited his great gun collection. One of the guns I now own is a 44mag Desert Eagle. I shot it with dad several times in the past, my brother and I took it and the 44mag Redhawk that my brother chose out to blast a few caps, mostly in dad's honor. Anyway, I have never owned a 44mag before, certainly the Desert Eagle is new to me. Please pardon the newbie questions I may have, I have read the small owners manual and found some good information on the Magnum Research website. This is a fantastic firearm and I look forward to learning as much about it as I can. So, thank you in advance for any posts that I hope to get! D |

Sorry for you loss, bro. What finish is the Desert Eagle? I recently purchased one (.50 AE) in Brushed Chrome. The DE's are amazingly easy to field strip and clean. The hardest part of the cleaning process (for me) has been getting the carbon build up off the slide around where the gas piston in located. A little solvent and some elbow grease and it comes off pretty easy. I fell in love with the .44 Mk I's back in the '80's. Damn fine gun. You are going to enjoy it. (Not to mention the sentimental value). I also got mine with the Hogue Fingergroove grips, which helps hanging onto that handful of gun immensely. |
