How well does the comp work on the 44? How is it mounted to the gun? Extended Threaded Barrel I assume.

I have had my 45 ACP and 9mm baby eagles for a while now. I care them more then any of my other pistols and both are great shooters.

the before pic, i plan on getting all the black barrels and mags refinished to brushed chrome;

still looking for a 10" 357 barrel and bolt, then it will be complete. (for me, no desire for 440 Corbon)

I traded my Baby Desert Eagle and a few hundred bucks for this MKVII in .44 magnum

It came with 2 magazines (one still in the wrapper and the other with a new spring), a new recoil spring/guide rod setup, 70 rounds of ammo (including a 20 round box of Magnum Research hollow points) and a set of the Hogue wrap around grips (which I do not like). Been out shooting once and had a couple problems with it; but after doing a little reading I'm chalking that up to the 180 gr. Remington SJSP I was shooting.

If I can go out shooting with it and find it reliable with some heavier loads I would like to see if I can find someone to checker the front strap on the frame like a 1911, get some non finger groove Hogues, and maybe send it off to Robar for an NP3 refinish.

44 Desert Eagle.
24 hours old.

This will go well with my other 44 calibers already in the safe.

Got hooked on my buddy's DE (shown in photos) and ended up picking up my own (black 50AE) last month. Love the gun and am thinking about reloading 50AE now.

I came upon this MK VIIMK I at the Nashville gun show today, and it had to come home with me. It has the original box, all the tools and cleaning bits that came in the box, some minor wear to the finish, and a single mag marked "2-86". I grabbed 100 rounds of ammo and two more factory mags before I left, as well. This is my first Desert Eagle, and the only "silly" gun I own. Glocks and ARs are reliable, extremely competent tools, but kinda' boring.

that one is not a "factory" mag, made by promag, unauthorized markings. MRI never marked their mags with anything other than date and caliber.

Well, crap. I have a MR mag in the bag, marked 7/09, so at least I have two good mags for it.

Picked up this 1983-1984 vintage .357 (date according to Magnum Research's best guess, I understand that records from that period at IMI were destroyed) last weekend from the local Cabela's Gun Library.  They had all firearms marked down, making it a bargain I couldn't pass up.  It ain't practical, but it's fun!  The holster is an equally vintage Blackhawk that I have had absolutely no use for... until now.

Tested it in the trap at work over the week, just to be sure it operated correctly.  Shooting into the trap is like kissing your cousin, though... not terribly exciting.  Got it out today and tested several .357 loads and one .38 +P+, just to see what it would do:

All of the .357 158 gr. loads functioned flawlessly, but the pistol seemed to function best on the American Eagle load.  As expected, the Federal Premium .38 +P+ partially extracted, but did not fully cycle, therefore I did not bother to try the Winchester +P+ (a relic of my earlier days in law enforcement when we all used revolvers!).
Here is the first group tried, using the PMC.  I was still getting used to the trigger and huge grip frame; subsequent groups were more on center for windage.  This group was fired at 25 yards, offhand; POA was the bottom center of the orange.  I found later that the elevation was right on for this load at approximately 75 yards.

This was the American Eagle, fired as rapidly as I could recover sight picture (which wasn't that quickly as my wrists were tired from holding this porky autoloader up by that time!), at the same 25 yard distance.  The low flyer is my fault, I jerked that shot.  I think that while not my first choice for carry guns, this Desert Eagle would do nicely for defensive purposes if needed.

P.S.- Sorry to dump the pics and run. Israeli made DE in .50AE (which makes it a VII I believe). Had the pistol for about 7 years now, never fired it but had it cerakoted in my signature Burnt Bronze.

P.P.S. - Yes I know, not fired ???? WTF..?? Well, its a long story, but I'll make it short. I'm building/finishing an indoor range at home and I want it to be my first short down range.
