how durable are they? i had a springfield xd and the frame on it seemed more stout the hk frame seems chinsey

USP pistols are among the most reliable out there.  The only time I've ever seen a cracked USP frame was due to an overcharged round.  They definitely on par with XDs.

A german frame is just "on par" with a croatian frame?  Isn't that like saying a Hyundai Genesis is "on par" with a E-Class Benz or 5-series Beemer?

You're HK will outlive you a few times over. Unless you're planning on re-entering the atmosphere with it, I think you'll be fine.

I've put nearly 20,000 rounds through my USPc .40 over the years and it still seems new.  I did have a problem with my P30 (the barrel) so I ditched the gun.  What model of HK were you shooting?
