| I love my USP's, BUT, is there anyone out there doing 'trigger jobs' on HK USP's? |
|
there are all kinds of folks who work HK triggers.
there is a guy not 15 minutes from me who does some magic with USP triggers. i found his card. [email protected] 513-747-4024 or 513-673-6342 guys name is Julian Parsons. he is in Oxford, Ohio. |
I had my .45acp USPF done by Mr. Springfield last month. His web site made some claims that I found hugely attractive versus the OEM trigger feel. Sadly, *I* couldn't tell much difference when I got the gun back. Actually, *I* couldn't tell ANY difference...........
I think I'll get my 9mm USPF out tomorrow & compare the two, see what the difference is, if any. My .o2 |

+1 for Bill Springfield
I had Bill Springfield do a trigger job on my USPc and I could tell the difference. If you go on HKPRO you will find that Bill Springfield posts there and if you search the forums you will find plenty of people happy with his work and fast turn around times. |

I've spent many hours on my HK trigger, and despite refining everything nicely and lightening the hammer spring a LOT, the trigger still sucks. I love everything else about the gun, but the trigger pull just sucks.
I spoke with HK people two or three years ago, and the response was - I shit you not - "Well, when you're in combat you won't notice the trigger." I told them that wasn't the point. The point was that an $900 dollar gun ought to have a decent trigger. I finally gave up on the HK and now carry Glocks. Shane |

Damn, I just got one of these on the way, are the triggers really that bad ? No, but they won't be mistaken for a crisp 1911 trigger though. A bit of break-in & some lube on the hammer/sear contact & they're pretty decent. My unhappy experience was that I was hoping for MUCH better than what they are, I guess. With any of my USP's, I can shoot some damn small groups. |
| Have Bill Springfield install a Match Trigger. The double action still sucks, but the single action breaks cleaner (although the pull and reset are pretty long). When he installs it, have him work it best he can. I will have him do all mine when I get around to it.... |

I will say this. After about 200 rounds I dont think an HK trigger is any worse than a factory glock trigger(this is just my opinion). A fresh NIB HK USP trigger is a little stiff and gritty though.
Also if you do the trigger smoothing steps it will help. I noticed that the internal parts of my USPc began to get a hard layer of powder residue built up. I really noticed it after breaking the thing completly down. After polishing everything by hand I no longer notice residue building up anymore.....everything wipes right off. |

Personally, I think the trigger on my USP is much better than the one on my G17. The trigger on my G17 is 'OK', but the USP if far better, IMO, in single action mode. The USP's trigger is no 1911, but is isn't enough worse that I've wanted to improve upon it. |
| Bill Springfield has done 3 HK triggers for me and they are fantastic. He reduced my military issue USP9 fron an ugly 12 lbs to an really smooth and crisp 8 lbs. Two P2K' LEM's to the light very smooth pull. I fired a 290/300 at LFI with the 9mm. I absolutely defend this man's work and if you are dissatisfied call him and he will make it good. Bill is an honorable man and a very skilled 'Smith'. |

I feel the same way about my local 'smith as well. But I repeat, in my particular case, *I* couldn't tell one iota's difference in the trigger from before I sent it to him & when I got it back..............

Could you even tell the trigger had been worked on? Is it possible somehow it didnt get worked on and sent back? I have seen way to many people say good things about his work. You really should contact him about it! Does anybody even know exactly what he does to the trigger to improve it? |

Then I wonder if he got guns mixed up and never worked on yours. I have sent him other triggers and always been a big improvement. |
| I've heard that the work done by Gray Guns is better. Also from what I understand the DA pull will always be the way it is and that the SA pull is where its really improved. I have to say that HK is right about not noticing the trigger pull in "combat", when I run through an IDPA course I don't notice the DA pull at all. |
