I looked at a used P2000 today. The SA trigger was fine, but the DA was hard (felt at least 10lbs) and gritty. I've played with plenty of other HKs but not too many P2000s. Is this normal? I would expect a much better trigger...

HKs standard DA trigger is not the best in the world as they come from the factory. IIRC the P2000 with slide mounted decocker cannot be converted to LEM either, which I much prefer. Bill Springfield does good, affordable trigger work on HKs and you could send it to him, but that adds about $40-50 or more to the price, plus shipping, and for that unless the used gun is a herlluva deal, you could probably come close to getting a new or like new LEM (if you like the LEM). By the way, if it is only 10lb that is a pretty decent DA weight if it is smooth.

That's exactly who I was thinking of sending it to if I bought it.

500 bucks sound reasonable? There isn't much finish wear other than one spot that looks like it was dropped on something hard...

Yes, $500 is a very good price for a P2000 if it is in decent condition. They hold up extremely well to tons of shooting and feed damned near anything...at least they do in 9mm. You might be surprised if you get it home, clean and lube it well and shoot it some...I have seen triggers smooth up pretty well after only 5-600rd of ammo, but if not that is a low enough price that the trigger work would be tempting...again, smooth means more than 'light' in a defense pistol.

If you buy a LEM and don't like the 10lb trigger pull, do the trigger job on it which brings it down to about 5lbs.  All it takes it changing out 2 springs and done.  It is smooth as butter.

Standard LEM trigger is around 7-8lb and feels to most shooters like 5. The mod is great but not so sure I want it on a defense gun myself, but that is a personal choice...for sure it is nice to shoot.

Mine felt like the high end of 8 or more on the pull.  My accuracy was pretty bad because of it.  Once I did the trigger job, but accuracy went way up.  In terms of the safety, it would be no safer than any other DAO that has no external safety.

I have one for a duty weapon...I hated the DA trigger...now, I love it.

I believe this works on the P2k as well but I changed the mainspring on my USPc .40 to a 10 lb. Wolff spring and it is an amazing difference (stock 14lb.) No light strikes and still dead nuts reliable. Smoothed out the DA with a much much lighter pull and made the SA a bit more crisp, and only a couple of bux (~$12) and a few minutes to do. Sorry but I don't think this will work as an easy fix for the LEM guys.

Changing the mainspring huh?  That sounds good.

Yup, actually if you do a search on it you'll see a lot of guys have done it to the USPc and have had favorable outcomes. I like it and recommend it. Also actually made me more accurate on the DA pull for the first shot. And if you don't like it, it's just as easy to convert back to normal state.

In related news, I dropped 5 guns off with Bill Springfield to be worked on today... P220R, P226R, P228, P6, CZ-75.

I'm still looking for a P2000 that hasn't been abused.

I don't know how this would work, but Triple A's sporting goods out here in California has one.

Thanks for the heads up, but I'd rather examine it in person first.

I'm taking 2 P2K's to LFI, both are LEM and once you have mastered that trigger you won't go to anything else.
I use the heavier LEM because this is my carry gun and I don't trust myself under duress with the lighter trigger.

Just a shameless plug for Bill Springfield here.

Picked up my 5 pistols today.

WOW. Huge difference in DA and SA pull with all the Sigs, much crisper and the SA is 99% creep-free. The CZ is worlds apart too.

Left my P220 SAO with him to get worked on.

Will shoot them tomorrow and report back...

That is awesome, but won't it void warranty?

Well, 6 of my 7 Sigs have been purchased used, and while the 220s and 226 are all '04 and newer, the P6s and 228 are all over 20yrs old, so I'm not too concerned.
