I just got my .45 tactical and it is Nice!  First one (all my glock 21's are jealous now!).  The only problem, I can't get the thread protector off the end of the barrel.  The previous owner must have really wrenched it down.  I have tried getting a little rem oil in there and even tried a pair of pliers (with a rag to protect the finish), and still no luck.  Any suggestions ON HOW TO FIX IT?  (you "original" jokesters can bypass with the usual 'send it to me' response....I AM keeping the gun!)

As said, the threads on the Tactical are left hand.  Not righty tighty, but righty loosy.
The problem is you have been turning it the wrong way and now likely have it stuck on there good and tight and it is not the fault of the previous owner.  To get it off now you will likely have to destroy the TP to get it off.  You can try freezing the barrel (along with the rest of the slide) over night and then apply a little heat to the TP ONLY while trying to unscrew it the correct way this time.  That often works.  If that does not get it off you may have to send it to HK and let them remove it but you are most likely out a TP and will have to get another one.

I was turning it left, but you bring up a valid point, that the previous owner may likely have wrenched it down by applying the improper direction of thread.  I will give the freezer a try, sticking it in there overnight, and see how it goes.

I got it, that freezer thing worked like a charm.  Didnt even need to heat it up.  Thanks!
