O.K. dude...that's a bit troubling!  I'm not a fan of having any sort of "chip" in ANY of my firearms, regardless of why it was installed.

I've heard discussion lately concerning RFID chips being stashed in various products in order to track the status/location of items.  Now, I feel like detail-stripping my USP45 and USP9C just to see if there are any chips inside!

That is interesting.  It looks like a regular passive RFID chip, which isn't going to transmit anything unless it's being powered by a scanner a few inches away.  My guess is it is intended for inventory control for police and military organizations who check their weapons in/out.

seems to be exactly what it's for. But anything that can provide additional info that is attached to your gun can be a negative in certain situations. I agree, No Chips! Smart guns are for women cops...
