Every since I bought my USP9F I have had issues setting the safety with my right thumb.  It is simply difficult to push it up into safe.  A lot of the time I have to resort to using my other hand to put it on safe.

It seems like the safety/decocker lever likes to slide back and forth on its pin, not a whole lot.  It seems like to go to safe it likes to be slid left (when facing the back of the gun) and to decock it likes to be slid right up against the frame.  Lubing it helps but doesnt solve the problem for long.

Anyone else ever hear of this problem or experience it?  I almost figured it was common until I picked up a USPc40 in a store and was amazed by how well the safety worked on it.

Could it be the Detent plate and Spring that are somehow gone bad or pinned and so making the Detent plate tight? There should be no play on the control lever.

There is very little play.  Maybe a couple thousandths of an inch side to side.

I don't know that *I* could ascertain "a couple thousandths of an inch", myself. However, your gun should be easily & quickly repaired under warranty, IMO. Send it in, or if you want, call H&K first & ask them about it.
