I just bought a USP .45 full size.  I was wanting to make sure that magazines for the SOCOM and USP are interchangable.  It may sound dumb but you never know.  Thanks for any replies.

From mark23.com:

"One can also use USP45 12 round magazines with the baseplate swaped with a Mark23 baseplate (the 12 round baseplate) - so the theory is that 12 round USP 45 magazines could be converted to be used in the Mark23. Magazine floorplates are not a restricted item so such USP to Mark23 conversions would be legal. The feed lips of the non-Mark23 magazines are possibly different from those on the Mark23 and with a baseplate swap, H&K has reported one would likely experience a functional problem."

USP and SOCOM mags are not interchangeable.  You CAN use the SOCOM mag in the USP, no problem and if you don't like the gap at the bottom you can swap the base plates.  It will function perfectly either way.
You CANNOT (or should not) use the USP mags in the SOCOM even if you swap baseplates.  The short feed lips usually result in feeding problems so if you can spend near $2000 for a SOCOM, you can spend the money for the proper mags.
I found a deal a few years ago on SOCOM mags and have been shooting them in my full size USP .45s without a hitch for several years so I know they will work.  I have also had USP mags not feed properly in my SOCOM (after putting on SOCOM base plates so they would lock in) so I know that can be a problem also.  Hey, I had to try didn't I?
