| I recently purchased a USPf in 9mm. I am considering putting a threaded barrel on it. I was curious if there is much difference in muzzle velocity with a slightly longer barrel, or if there is any advantage as far as accuracy goes? I am planning on getting a suppressor for it in the future. Any thoughts? |
| No advantage in accuracy, and any velocity gain is for mental masturbation purposes only. While theoretically the slightly longer barrel will give higher velocities you are only talking about 15-25 fps tops, and that is well within the shot to shot variation of most factory loads, so you are gaining no useful velocity. Unless you are planning on getting a can there is no reason, other than wanting to look bad-ass, to get a threaded barrel, and that is reason enough for most. |
