When removing a chambered round from my new HK45C I really have to pull back hard. When doing so the round flies much further than I would like.

I discovered this at the indoor range I frequent. I carry this piece regularly. Before I shoot I drop my mag full of expensive Hornady hollow points and remove the chambered round too. Not realizing how much force was required, the round flew past the firing line and I was unable to retreive it.

My fullsize USP 40 requires no more force than is necessary to pull the slide back in order to remove the chambered round. It drops out very predictably instead of being launched like a clay pigeon!

Anyone else experience this?

Never noticed this on ANY of my semis. Does it do this with only this ammo? If not, how clean is your chamber?

It is new, give it some time for the spring to set. When I unload mine I remove the mag then turn it on the side and cup my hand over the ejection port and catch the round. This works good for me.

Are the Hornady bullets moly coated?

Flip the gun upside-down and pull slowly on the slide should solve your problems.

set the gun on the bench and place the butt on your chest..with your right hand pull on the bolt and with the other cup the ejection port......you can catch it or let it fall back into the action..if you let it fall back into the action just turn it and plop...out she comes : P
