I currently have a USP45 variant 3 with the stainless slide.  I really love the gun, but I would like one with a few more options.  So, I guess I can either upgrade the sights and trigger and change to a variant 1 or I can sell this one and buy a tactical.  I know I should never sell a gun, but I would have no choice due to funds.

Would it be cheaper/better to just upgrade what I have or should I just buy a tactical?

Upgrade.

You'll lose more $$ selling off the old one & then kick yourself a year from now for letting it go. By upgrading you can avoid both of those bugaboos & not have sellers remorse.
