| i have a usp40. the grip borderlines on being too big for my hands. does anyone out there know if compact version has the exact same size grip or is it smaller? |

Smaller. Slide release is closer. Mag release is easier to reach. "COMPACT" When the USP came out I knew I had to have one! I immediatly went to the local gun shop, picked one up, and immediatly put it back down. My hands were too small for this design. Knowing that everyone else with average size hands would feel the same ( and being patient) I waited for a compact version to come out. No introduction was made to that effect. Knowing HK to be the company they are I just knew it would happen. The compact came out and it fit and pointed well (great), I could easily reach ALL of the controls. After I picked up that model, I didn't put it down, took er' on the spot. It's the .45. The .40 is somewhat smaller and the 9mm is downsized a little again. A rather odd thing in the USP lineup is that the Tactical is slightly larger than the Standard USP but the controls have been moved into a more ergonomic location. I can reach everything on my Tac as easily as on my Compact. If you have larger than average hands, the full size USP or the Mark 23 will keep you happy in every respect. Otherwise, buy the Tactical or a Compact. My .45 Compact is fast approaching 60,000 rounds with ONE stove pipe encountered only recently. ( duh ya thunk a new recoil spring might be in order? ). Waltz your butt downtown and pick one up. You'll be pleased. |
