Just curious how folks out here are Lubing their USP's?

I've owned 3 Full Size and kept them lubed anywhere from "light" to "heavy" oil on them.

What say you?  Owners of USP's......USPc's.....? ? ?

Anyone run on a "Dry" gun?

Slide/barrel/recoil assembly:  I oil EVERYTHING, but then I wipe it down to the point where if you touch it, it will leave a mark- so there is oil on it, just not excessive.  I try to live a tiny bit more on the barrel.

Frame...well, I oil the hammer/FCG and trigger bar...then wipe them down...just to protect them since they're metal.  I put one dab of oil on each frame rail, and thats that.  I also take a q-tip and tab the trigger return spring.

Never had any issues with a HK doing things this way.

Aside from the general wipe down, I pay attention the wear surfaces.

So, the rail grooves in the slide, the rails on the frame, the trigger spring, the hammer spring, the safety detent, and the recoil spring and catch (where it intersects the barrel).

+1

Guns, like sex, can never have too much lube, IMO. Desert environment excepting, of course. Whatever is excess will quickly shake off when shooting.

Use BreakFree, Slip2000, Tetragun oil & grease, Militec,  they are all good. Use enough to coat the barrel and slide rails...but not enough where it will run off and get sloppy.

I have a buddie with a USP compact 9mm that hes probably run around 10,000 rounds through and most of them were in a dry, very dirty gun.

You can take great care of it, or not, either way its still going to shoot and be reliable.

+1 on Tetra.

Frame rails, barrel, trigger and hammer springs.  The gun runs like greased lightening.  Tetra is also viscous enough to go several thousand rounds between cleanings and it still works flawlessly.  That is also in large part to the excellent HK craftsmanship.

Hi,

I´m a ipsc shooter from germany and most of the time I use my USP 9mm.
About the Lubing of a USP I´am shoothing together with one of the H&K Team Members:
We both Lube the USP with CLP but for the real important parts we use grease it stays much better where it should be. Important parts Frame rails, barrel, slide, recoil assembly.
A good grease is the Tetragun grease. We use Liqui Moly GunTec is that available in the us?
Any question ?

Ok about the grease we are heavy users about more then 500 rounds per trainigday

USP'S are made to shoot dirty but I see no reason why anyone would want to shoot "dry." Just my .02

I use militec1 which is a "dry" lube. I also use grease on the rails.
