First of all. I am new hear so I just want to say hi to everyone. Second, I have been doing my homework and it is clear to me that if not the best pistol, H&K, makes one of the finest pistols available anywhere. That being said, I have decided to purchase the USP 45. Now my dilemma. The full size or the compact. Let me first filter your responses: 1) No, I cannot afford to buy both. As a matter of fact I sold my Colt Python to have the money to buy one of these two pistols. 2) My local range does not have both of these pistols so I can't try them. 3) My primary uses are a)home defense, b) target shooting, c) possibly carry From reading your posts and posts on other boards, it seems that both pistols are accurate although I would have believed that a longer barrel and heavier pistol would equal more accuracy. And I would also imagine that the recoil on the Compact would be harsher, especially in a 45, but I haven't read much about that either. So ladies and gentleman, your thoughts? |

If its possibly carry, defiantely get the compact. Both are exellent choices however, and I dont think you will be disappointed with either. I happen to shoot my compact 45 better than I do the full size, it just seems to fit my hand better. The recoil isnt that bad. |
| I just picked up a USP-C .45 for the exact same reasons you listed. For me, carry and the way the compact fit my hand were the deciding factors. The USP-F is a great weapon as well, but I just felt so much more comfortable with the compact. It felt like an extension of my hand. Great weapon! I just shot it for the first time yesterday! |
| fullsize. Unlike the .40 and 9mm, the .45 has a huge difference in capacity between the fullsize and compact, where you only lose 1 or 2 rounds in the others, the .45 holds 12 in fullsize and 8 in the compact, plus the size difference really isn't that great, I carry my fullsize USP9 all the time with no problem |

get the usps and a small of the back holster and if you can get factory nights. i love mine, its just like a glock 30 in size but the g30 you get 10 in the clip and is shorter profile , i carry both anyways and the fullsize 9 is the same size as the 45 uspc, with the fullsize .45 youll notice it the compact is the one that youll love to hold, go to a range you can rent and see |

Carry with the fullsize is no big deal...CONCEALED carry is another issue. I personally like the fullsize but that's just my opinion. I will say 12 rounds of .45 is a big advantage. If I have to conceal carry I use a fanny pack with concealed velcro compartment. YMMV |

I have both. The USP45 is my "house gun" and it has a weaponlight attached. The USP45 Compact is my sometimes carry gun, the other being an Ed Brown Kobra Carry 1911. Both are carried in Condition One, i.e., cocked and locked. The USP45 is a handful and wouldn't be the best choice for a concealed carry pistol. The USP45 Compact makes an excellent one. Much has been made regarding the difference in magazine capacity, but you should be carrying at least one extra magazine regardless, so I don't see this as a big issue nor should it be the determining factor in your decision. |
| I have a USP 45f and it's my favorite pistol. Soft shooting for a .45. Big (I have big hands), and has a nice big capacity (12+1) for a .45. I want a nice custom 1911, but for what it is, I don't think I could get any better for a user friendly pistol. Everything is where it should be for me. The slide release and safety have a good purchase and are easily found with the thumb. I also like the ambi-mag drop. Yea, its way to big to be carrying concealed, but it does a fine job for a house gun, or a duty firearm (when I finially finish the hiring process.......talk about frustrating). Another thing you might concider is that the .40 compact has a 12 round capacity (i think). .40 may not be as good as a .45, but for a smaller gun, it just might do the trick. Hell, its better than 9mm |
