They "fixed" the price.  Odds are it will hit the street much cheaper.  There are a ton of threads on HKPro about this too.  I will post the link to HKspecalist as I have no horse in this race.

I'm glad to see the gun hit the market although I wonder how well it'll sell now that 9mm is the new 40S&W.

Man,Jeremy was fast on that editing--we just did that video session last week!

I know a lot of folks are kind of 'whatever' on the .40, but I was pretty impressed with it. In my opinion, it's more comfortable than any other .40 caliber handgun than I have shot, except for my .40 2011s.

I really wish they would have designed it so that it would fit in a VP9 holster. I tried it out in a G-Code OSH holster and realized that the slide is a touch bigger on the VP40.

Ya, that would have been nice, but apparently the designers felt it needed more metal in the slide.  I suspect it had to do with trying to slow the slide down more than anything else.

HK's approach is to offer basically two sizes on the same basic format.  A standard 9mm package accompanied by a slightly larger 40S&W package.  Why make a larger and bulkier 9mm when a certain size/weight slide will work fine?  On the other hand; why make a 9mm and drop a 40 barrel in it only to have the gun tear itself apart in relatively short order?
