| Would you recommend getting a P2000 or a compact USP? Caliber doesn't matter either way. Just curious which one is better and why. |

Depends what you mean by better...
I think they are equal as far as quality and reliability. Depending on what variant you get, the internals are all very similar also. So it really comes down to the ergonomics. The USP is a more military looking design developed in 1989 while the P2000 and P2000SK are a slightly newer (2001) and sleeker design mostly developed for European law enforcement. Magazines of the same caliber are interchangeable if they're long enough to fit in the grip. I own several HK pistols, but no USPs, I think they feel a bit clunky. Best thing is to see how they feel to you. |

I have the 9mm USP Compact and love it. I personally like the ability to go cocked and locked and the grip angle, the decocker is nice too.
They're very similar it really comes to to features price and availability. I kinda liked the slightly more military look of the USP better from an aesthetics point of view. Next tone is going to be a USP45 I think. Though I really want a 1911 as my first 45... Decisions decisions.... Mike |
| I have a USP .45 (full size) and a P2000. I have been carrying the P2000 daily for 8 years now. It is a fantastic gun. If I could only keep one hand gun, it would be the USP hands down. By far my favorite handgun. I really want to pick up an HK45. I want to try and find an AK date code. |
| Which fits your hand well. That should be of prime importance. Both the P2000 and the USP ar excellent platforms and reliable as all get out. I like the compact 9mm USP as well as the full size. I also have USPs in 40 and .45 both compact and full size. They are all good shooters. |

I'm pretty sure this is a "Get Both" situation. Or get all of them. Next thing you know, you'll decide you need a Tactical, and then a USP of every caliber. And don't forget about a P30. And if you really don't like keeping money around you can pick up an HK91.
And I wonder why I don't have money. |
