Hello folks.

New member, new shooter with hopefully a simple new person question.

My first handgun is the USP .45 full size.  I have after the fact purchased night sights for it.  Neither the handgun owners manual nor the sights came with instructions for replacing them.

While it seems like a fairly sraight forward concept, I want to make sure I'm not missing something that could damage either the slide or the sights.   Also need to know if there is something special in lining them up, or is that done on the range?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

Most likely you will indeed need to have a minor windage adjustment after the initial install, IMO. There's several methods of installing sights, from special sight tools to simply using a brass (NOT steel) drift & probably a couple more I haven't heard about yet.

Quite honestly, I'd have a pro gunsmith do it, it'd be worth the $$ to me to avoid the aggravation.

They are very easy to damage if you don't use a pusher.  A wood block to tap them in will probably damage them.  It seems a steel or brass drift punch placed as low as possible works decently, although I have broken them that way too.  Beg, borrow or steal a pusher.  If you break a tritium vial, your sights will die in a week or less.
