I've been shopping for a 9mm carry/HD pistol, and one of the ones I've test fired was a P30 with the LEM trigger. I'm also interested in the P2000 which comes with the LEM too. HK's site says the standard pull on the V2 version is about 7lbs, but that an HK armorer can lower that to 5.5lbs. However, the site also lists a V1 version with a pull of 20 newtons, which calculates to 4.5 lbs.
Why would they have the option of lowering the V2 to 5.5lbs when there is apparently a factory V1 version of 4.5lbs? Or is the V1 not available to the general public? I kinda liked the LEM on the P30, but wouldn't mind if the pull was less. Thanks |

OP
I have the P2000SK 9mm with the V1 Light LEM trigger and absolutely love it, most people that I am aware of just purchase the couple of springs required for the change from HK Parts .net and do the conversion to light LEM themselves which is what I did. It is not a very difficult job to change the trigger configuration on an HK, and can be done on your kitchen table in an hour at most if you have some mechanical aptitude just aquire the right " Roll Pin " punches to do the job correctly so as not to bugger anything up! I would advise you to go to HK Pro .com there is a video tutorial on exactly how to do the job in the HK reference library, and a wealth of information available from the cadre of HK fanatics as well as a direct conection to HK USA customer service GOTURBACK |

Would you say the light version is significantly better than V2? Thanks for the info on the HK forum! |

I just picked up a P2000sk V2 LEM yesterday to go with my DA/SA P30.
After +3500 in the P30, I decided to give the LEM a try. I also ordered the two springs to convert it to V1 and the extended mag release from HK Parts. That stuff arrived 3 days before the sk came in. The parts swap to convert the V2 to V1 took me less than 15min. I've been JR gunsmithing firearms my whole life and have built AK47s. Swapping the 2 springs was very simple. Just be sure you have the correct tools. A roll pin punch set and a pair of micro needle nose pliers. Follow the directions on HK Pro and it'll be a breeze. When the pistol came home, I felt the V2 trigger was very close in feel to the DA/SA P30 and wasn't sure if the swap would really improve things. After doing it, I can now say, I was wrong. The V1's biggest improvement IMO is that it gives a more distinctive trigger reset "click" in LEM mode My guess at what's going on is that when the sear drops into engagement while releasing the trigger, it is more easily felt with the V1's lighter springs. This makes it easier to judge it and fire follow on shots faster without short stroking or slowing down with longer trigger strokes. HK says they don't sell the V1 here in the US (probably for lawsuit fears) , but a few seem to slide in now and then. I'd just snag a V2 and swap the parts rather than go on a scavenger hunt. |

pretty much to get the different LEM trigger weights involve changing out some springs with different LEM components installed.
If you like you can always call up HK and send the gun in to have the LEM trigger you like installed or DIY, though it can be a pain the first time through. |

At first it felt kinda weird, but the more I shot it the more I liked it. However, I wouldn't mind the pull being a little lighter. The V1 sounds like it might be the way to go, even if I have to do it myself. |

I converted my P2000 from V2 to V1 last week. Best $15 in parts I ever spent. Seems to have shrunk my groups by probably 20% or so.
Don't have much other advise that hasn't been mentioned. Reading the tutorial on HKPro is a must. I tried the first time to put my TRS in for about 15 minutes. Then I went to Advance Auto and they had a set of mini needle-nose pliers for about $17. There is a set of long nose pliers in it. They worked great. Once I got back home with them, I was function checking in less than five minutes. Never have figured out how to hot link. But here is a thread I started on HKPro talking about the conversion. In that thread is a link to a V2 to V1 conversion thread. Just copy and paste to your browser. http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-handgun-talk/155109-all-you-v2-lem-owners.html |
