| Any comments on this gun? I am considering buying one. I would carry it iwb. Do you like yours? |

I absolutely love mine but I think it's a little big for carry in my opinion. Every one that shoots mine falls in love with it. Like stated above the only bad thing is the price of mags. But they do come up on ee sometimes I carry a g20sf right now. It seems just fine. I'll go compare them side by side at the funstore. |
|
One of the most reliable Pistol I have ever purchased. I can shoot it all day and I have just over 3000 rounds through it. (I know that ins't a lot but that number is almost all 500+ round shooting sessions). The mags are expensive, but you can find deals on them here and there. The holster options have increased over the years. I don't like that you need a rail adapter for any light other than the M2 UTL (which I have on it now).
But other than that, it is one of the best pistols you can buy in 45acp. It is combat proven and I love mine. I will never sell it. Great gun, you won't be upset with it. |
|
I have a USP 45f. It's a great gun. As others have said the 12rd mags are expensive. Heck the 10rd mags are expensive. Takes a proprietary light as the rail is not standard.
Other's have reported that it's high bore axis makes follow up shots harder than a lower bore axis gun but I haven't noticed. |
|
Carried mine for close to a decade. Yes, it is a big piece, but with a good holster it's not hard to carry. I only switched to carrying the .40 because I compete with a 40 and our team shoots 40, so it was easier to standardize on one caliber.
I still have my two 45's in the safe. Doc |

How do you like the HK45 mag release? The HK45c mag release is like night and day. I love it. Made mag changes faster/easier. Much appreciated. I may have to do this. My biggest issue is that when I seat a magazine, the release pinches my finger. |
|
We carry full size ones for duty and I will carry it in a Galco paddle holster once in a while in the winter. Easier to do with a coat. I purchased several Pro-Mags for range use so as to not damage the duty mags and they seem to work just fine. Quoted:

I own and carry one everyday. Its the best handgun Ive ever owned IMO. I had one a few years ago, sold it because I needed the cash. Bought another about 6 months ago.
I carry mine in a Desantis OWB leather currently, but just ordered a leather Galco IWB for the spring/summer. |
|
The USPs are reliable, solid guns. I owned a USPc 45 as well as a USPf 45. I'm 6'4", 250lbs and the USPf 45 is (imho) too big to conceal. It's a huge gun for ccw.
Mags / parts are expensive. After taking a lot of training, I've transitioned to 9mm Glocks and sold my USPs. They're great guns - Glocks just work better for my needs. |

This winter I carried OWB and with a hoodie had no problem concealing. When I had my other one I always carried IWB and again, no issues. Proper gear and placement on your body will keep it hidden well. If thats what youre going for. Though now-a-days Im not at all concerned about printing or even carrying openly in some places. |
| Look at CDNN, they have police trade-in V1 & V2 from $500-$540. They also had used 12rd LEO mags for $20 each but are sold out of them now. I bought a GG&G light adapter for mine & really like it. I couldn't find a UTL light that wasn't super expensive & this lets me use my TLR-1. |
|
That's why I started this thread.

The gun came today, but for the second time it appears I was hoodwinked by CDNN. Very good to excellent is what I ordered. The gun is "good" condition at best. The places where the plastic has coloring (safety, etc) are about completely gone and the plastic is a little beat up here and there. I'll go shoot it tomorrow.

The USP45 is probably my favorite pistol ever made. Mine is a KF date code and has been around the block a bunch by the previous user. I carry it and when I get home I put a light on it and it is my bedside gun. I can cut a 2x4 in half at 25yds with it. Mags are too expensive but you can say that about all HKs. Just something that is a part of it. YMMV but i have gotten faultless service and fun from all my HKs. |

I read else where that they were pretty good condition. Hope mines better or I'm less picky than you. Hope to find out later this week.
edit: Oh I didn't enjoy paying $50 each for new mags x 3. Where did the cheap used $20 mags go? Oh well. |

I don't know –– it's just no drama. I love this gun! One thing though, I've found that mine really doesn't like Tulammo, I had several failures to feed as the cases would bind up/not slide smoothly into the chamber, fixable by banging on the slide. This was completely an ammo issue - it started happening after firing 100 rds of Federal and about 150 rds into the Tulammo, so maybe the polymer coating crap on the Tulammo was already all over the chamber. |

That is a great looking HK. It will last you a long time. I prefer the USP to the HK45 line.
I have both and the feel of the USP just works better for me. At the very beginning of the thread the cost of magazines just set me off. I probably shouldn't even say this but........ If the price of magazines is a real factor in your weapon selection you might just stay with the very inexpensive Hi-Point,s If you want the best quality and more importantly reliability you get what you pay for. |

I tried loading Hornady Critical Defense 185 grains. They are sticking somewhat in the chamber. If I take the barrel out, a round dropped into the chamber will not spin freely. In fact, they won't seat all the way in the chamber either. That is because Hornady uses a different bullet design than everyone else. It doesn't seal properly in the HK barrels. It is kind of a well known thing, but they should start annotating it in their manuals. Everything else should be G2G. |

It's ok. I have a dillion square deal b and plenty of ammo. I am getting my reloading stuff together for this caliber. In the meantime, I shot the gun today and it is very accurate. No failures of any kind, accept for the Blazer ammo that didn't fire the first time. Pulled the trigger again and it went boom. I am very happy with this gun, and I carry it every day. |

I picked up a .45 USP today. http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad323/CarnageRush/100_3849.jpg I've not shot it yet. Glad to finally have a .45 though. You, much like the OP, made an amazing life choice. Great gun, once you shoot it a bunch and begin to master it, you will love it. |

I'm pretty happy with it. I plan to get a USPc 45 or an HK45c. I can't decide. I've held both and the HK45c is probably the one I will go with. Unless I find a gently used USPc for a good price. I can't wait to shoot it again. All I need now is the caliber conversion for my Dillon SDB and some bullets/power. I picked up 400 rounds of WWB the other day for 36.79/box. That's not a bad deal. I can reload that brass and it is all large primer.

Mines was very good but I wouldn't call it excellent like they do. You can tell it was worn on the right side. Date code was late 90s. Surprise was the still glowing mepro night sights. Dim but still usable. Need to get some free time to shoot it. |

Hope to find out later this week.
