| I have an opportunity to pick up an hk4 in .32acp with the .22 conversion parts. My knowledge is pretty limited on this pistol, so I would be interested in any information and first hand experiences with one. Are they durable enough to handle thousands of rounds of .22 or is it more of a collectors piece? Also what is the market value for these? Thanks. |

Not that you won't get solid info here but, check HKPro.com J |

I had one with all four caliber conversions back in the late 70's, neat little gun and very well made. I doubt you could ever shoot it out. IIRC I paid about $320 for mine back then. Conversion calibers alone can go for up to $300 bucks. The last complete set I saw for sale went for over $1800. Production stopped in 1974, and parts are a bitch. |

That's why guns such as the GSG, Jennings, Lorcin, etc. have been made out of pot metal & they still don't blow up. Not to mention anything made/sold by H&K is going to be virtually bulletproof anyway, I wouldn't give it a second's thought, IMO. No clue about the value, Gun Broker might be your best bet for market value currently, IMO. Most likely it's waaaaaaay more than *I* can afford these days. If you get it, please be sure to post pics!

Thanks for the advice guys.
As far as pricing goes, I only have found 3 examples on GB. One with only the .32 parts going for $400, one with all the barrels for $649, and one commemorative version in .32 with .22 parts for $799. The one I'm looking at is listed at $450+tax. Doesn't seem like an amazing deal but I may never see another one of these in good condition locally again for a while. Can any one with a blue book chime in? Thanks |

Well I did more research and went ahead and picked up the HK4 yesterday as sort of a Christmas gift to myself.
It turns out that this is no regular HK4. Here's some brief history on these particular HK4s from Bo's Gray Room: "Only 555 secretly made HK 4's as French MAS (Manufacture Naionale d'Arms de Saint Etiene/MAS) sent to France so they could be used in Berlin because German manufacured guns were not allowed to be issued to authorities in Berlin. Serial numbers on these guns range from 51566-52120. Imported back to Berlin as a French gun and issued to prison guards, etc. Extremely rare." My example included the .32acp and .22lr barrels with 2 magazines each as well as all the paperwork, targets, screwdriver, cleaning chain, and boxes. All numbers match. Unboxing:
