Colt SAA, what is the third click?
I have the other 3 figured out. I don't want to tear the thing apart but looking at the schematics I can't figure out what causes the click or what it does. The hammer doesn't lock in the 3rd position unless the cylinder is out... Does it have something to do with revolving the cylinder or locking it in place or something? I need an animated gif for the SAA like I've seen for the 1911. I'm confused, and it's way too expensive to take apart like a 1911 just to see how the parts work. And honestly I'm afraid I'll screw something up |

The third "click" is the cylinder locking bolt dropping onto the cylinder.
First click..."safety notch". Second click...loading notch. Third click...bolt dropping back onto the cylinder. Fourth click...the hammer fully cocking AND the bolt dropping into the cylinder locking notch. (This will sometimes sound like a double click). It was said the Colt was the only gun that spelled it's name when cocked "C-O-L-T". |
