Hello Colt brotherhood,
In Puerto Rico not a single dealer have Colt firearms in stock. In fact this is Kimber territorry
I have to place an online order if I want a Colt. In fact I have no way to inspect a Colt before actually paying for it. If the gun is defective then I have to deal with Colt for warranty. Im skeptikal about this cause Colt's warranty/repair protocol is a trully UMPLEASANT one (dealing with a Combat Elite warranty issue as we speak). I have been lurking for the New Agent for some time now and decided to sell one of my (secret voice) Glocks (secret voice) to fund this little devil. BUT, I want to be sure this gun is 100% great right out of the box and it will need NO warranty trips. My question: Any reported NEGATIVE issues about this New Agent model? Slide to frame rub issues? Any comments/reports regarding this New Agent will be greatly appreciated. TD |
| I don't own one, but they seem to be gaining popularity and I've seen them more and more at the local gun shows. I just picked up a Colt Defender which I think the Agent is somewhat based from. Took it out of the box, cleaned it, and then put 90 rounds through it with no problem. From everything I have read, the Defender is supposed to be the most dependable compact 1911 so I'm sure the Agent is right there with it. I'd say if you are unhappy with their warranty/service, look at Springfield as they seem to have a good warranty/service reputation, although I haven't researched their compacts too much. I do hear of problems with the compact Kimbers. |

Loktite fixed that. Also after 100 rds of WWB 230gr ball, I found that the tang on the grip safety is a bit sharp, and rubbed a small gouge in the skin between my thumb and trigger finger. Not enough concern for me to want to change it out, though. ![]() If you go this route, you may want this info: I got these, as preventative maintenance for my New Agent. www.specializedarmament.com/products/RECOIL_SPRING_ASSY_45_DEFENDER_COMPLETE_ASSY-802-11.html It comes assembled, with the inner spring installed. When you order the assembly listed above, you also need to order the outer spring at the same time: www.specializedarmament.com/products/RECOIL_SPRING_DEFENDER_OUTER_SPRING-801-11.html RECOIL SPRING ASSY., .45 DEFENDER, COMPLETE ASSY Price : $26.00 and RECOIL SPRING, DEFENDER - OUTER SPRING Price : $3.00 Every 500 rds or so, from now on, I'll just order the springs and rebuild it, hoping to not (worst case scenario) lose the c-clip on reassembly: Because I didn't order the outer spring from SAW initially, I ended up going to Wolff's website, and on a bright note, shipping from Wolff was only $3.99 for 3 sets of springs, via USPS 1st class mail. www.gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/Colt.html#Defender COLT DEFENDER .45 ACP RECOIL SPRINGS sets are available with load-rated specifications to tailor the recoil function to individual needs. The inner and outer recoil springs replace the factory springs using the factory recoil guide and plug. Springs are changed by removing and replaceing the "C" clip on the front of the factory assembly. An extra power firing pin spring is also included Reduced Power...: 17 Lb. Factory Standard.: 19 Lb. Extra Power........: 21 and 23 Lb. Stock No. 541xx.....$ 8.99 ea Please Note: Replace the "xx" in the stock number with the pound rating of spring. HAMMER SPRINGS Hammer sprngs for the Colt Defender are the same springs as in the Colt Officers. Click HERE to jump to Officers hammer springs. MAGAZINE SPRINGS Magazine springs are not currently available for the Colt Defender. OTHER INTERNAL SPRINGS The other internal spring, (magazine catch, firing pin, sear springs, plunger tube, safety block spring) are the same as used in Colt 1911 series pistols. I haven't had any problems with the two factory 7 round magazines it came with, so as far as spare magazines, I already have quite a few Wilson 8 round #47DCBs on hand, so I just bought a couple of these, to use on my reload magazine when carrying the New Agent: www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=24745&title=OFFICERS%20ACP%20CONVERSION%20BASE%20PAD |
