Hello all,

Thinking about getting my first prancing pony.  I have a Sig GSR and have owned other sigs and hk's.

I have seen some of these XSE commander 4 and 1/4 inch models going for about $850 or so new and am very tempted.  Is this a gun with all MIM parts?  Are the parts actually made by Colt or is this just another factory parts gun?  Should I get one?  Thanks for your feedback!

Is XSE commander worth premium price over 1991 commander?

It probably has two or three MIM parts and it is worth the money if you want FCS, FLGR and better sights. If you prefer to make those changes yourself then go for the 1991.

I was also told XSE has flared ejection port and 1991 NRM doesn't... is this true?

My XSE SS Combat Commander is my favorite pistol period and a true example of the Commander 1911. It's dead nuts on straight from the box. IMHO Colt has really stepped up their QA over the last two years and it shows.

Thats good, because when I bought my Kimber custom back in 2004 the shop owner told me to buy Kimber over Colt. Definitely getting one of these XSE commanders once I get the $.

I'm thinking on taking the plunge on a 38 super LW XSE Commander.  Never had or even fired a Commander before but I think " IT'S TIME " !

I bought a Colt XSE LW Commander new. First time out, it would not feed hollowpoints. It would nose dive into the feedramp. I was told it needed to be broken in. I shot w/ some FMJ's. I had a few that would nose dive into the ramp. I then replaced the recoil spring with a heavier Wolff spring, and that made a world of difference. It shot FMJ's perfectly, but would still not feed JHP's. Also while firing the rear sight flew off. I was lucky to find it, and tightened it down. Then it flew off again. I ended up putting locktite under it, and that held it in place.

I put around 500 rounds of FMJ through it before I traded it. Lately however, I have been thinking of picking up another one, since I liked it a lot. Im hoping the issues I had were a one time thing.

I may give it a shot, I may get a Kimber.

Took my new Colt .38 super XSE out today.  Very, very, happy!    It's a Commander model & I shot three different kinds of ammo from it today from Magtech, Aguila, & Winchester.  It ate them all without a hitch.  The Winchester 130 gr +P were the softest recoiling with the other two having allot of muzzle flash.  But I haven't shot indoors in a while & this might of been my imagination.
I have no idea why this caliber never caught on?  It's a blaster with I figure more power than a 9mm and much softer recoil than my .45acp.  If more people would pick up on it, maybe the ammo companies would produce more & the price would come down.  Did I say that?  I must be dreaming......

I have both a Colt Commander XSE and the LWC XSE with no issues.  I've fed them both HP w/o issues.  The LWC will eat Ranger 230+P w/o problems and recoil isn't a problem.  Haven't fed these to the CC.  I too had the rear sight come loose on the Combat Commander and did the locktite thing.  I don't like ambi safeties, but can live with it.  Great pistols with all the CC stuff w/o paying over $1000.00.

I second all the above in red, also my plunger tube fell off due to not being staked at all at the factory, but over all I'm more than happy.

I have the Combat Colt Commander XSE and love it. I only have one issue and its not with the pistol.  its with Trijicon,  they don't make a night sight for it yet.
