Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Will this work?

What the heck why not.  I have a M1911 (Not an 11A1) that my stepgradpa brought back from the Army of Occupation in germany.  then in WWII he got it cadmium painted.  The cad painting is going.  I'm wondering if after reworking some mags with Permaslik, I tear down the auto and use some of the permaslik on it.  

the finish is shot anyhow, it has zilch collectors value since the original finish is gone, how long do you think the permaslik would last?  Would it be an interesting "WTF"?
