| I've been eyeing one in local fun shop. Seems people buy them more as an investment than a shooter. Anyone shot theirs? How is it? |

I got a SAA, blued, 45LC, 5 1/2"? bbl I bought in the mid 90's. Paid just over $900 NIB, now they're $1300 or so? I shot mine about 500 rds. Nicely built. Gives me goosebumps everytime I pick it up. For backup I also bought a Beretta Stampede in .357 which I shot a lot more than the Colt. Only thing that I can criticize on the Colt SAA is the skinny trigger, but if it's historically accurate so be it. The Stampede has a nice wide trigger |

I've got one, but never will shoot it. It was great grandfather's and the story is that he found it in a crate down on the docks. First generation, calber 44-40, serial no. 160XXX so it was built before the smokeless powder threshold. On the few occasions I get it out of the safe deposit box, I hold it and just wonder the stories it could tell if it could talk. The slightly burnt grip on one side only makes the idea even more interesting. Truly, a piece of American history. |
